- To create your menu, you must first create the categories of all your items. EX: Appetizers, Drinks, Entrees, etc. When this is completed you will have the foundation of your menu creation.
- Next, you will want to create modifier sets by item. What this does is it allows you to put toppings, flavors, dressings, sides and other things of that nature as a modifier category.
- Next, you will put which modifier items go under that category in modifier items. EX: Ranch, Ketchup, Fries, etc. Once you create a modifier item you will be able to assign it to a modifier set. What this does, is it groups it with things you will be putting under certain items in the future.
- Now, you’ll want to create your items which are your main dishes. After creating it you’ll want to assign it a price and put it as a fixed rate and make sure the item is either assigned as available or unavailable based on stock and then you can put the unit amount such as each, price per pound, so on and so forth. Next you scroll down to the first box which should be titled Categories and assign it to it’s proper classification. Such as, Appetizer, Sides, Entrees, etc. Your next box will be the Modifiers, there, you can assign the Modifier sets that are attached to the items that either come with the main dish or can be added. If there are no modifiers you can just skip over this part. The next box will be taxes, as mentioned in a previous module, you will have a sales tax on taxable items and if that is indeed the case then you should add the sales tax to the item. Finally, there is the printer box which will assign where in the establishment you will be sending the ticket to. For instance if there is a kitchen item you will send it to the kitchen. If it is a grill item you can send it to the grill printer.
